About Maol: Mistress Maol is a 10th century daughter of a wealthy family of Northern Ireland who did not mind their youngest daughter learning to read and write at the local monastic scriptorium. Her love of the written word drove her toward the arts of calligraphy and illumination so that she could present written works as beautifully as possible. Maol greatly enjoys long days in the garden and the observation of butterflies. Maol regularly works with students of all levels on the arts of calligraphy, illumination and gilding and is happy to teach groups of all sizes.
