Class Schedule
The following is a tentative list of classes that will be taught at TMT 2014. The length of all classes are assumed to be one hour long unless otherwise noted.
Art-Sci Classes
To Cite, or Not to Cite?

Description: So you have all your information for your Art/Sci entry. Now what do you do with it? Citing resources is an important detail that shouldn't be left for last. The class will cover how to make notes as you're researching to allow your Bibliography to be quick and easy to compile.
Bardic Classes
History of The Irish Bards and Eisteddfod
Instructor: Honorable Lady Melissent Jaquelinne la Chanteresse
Description: Exploration of the Irish bards and the fate of the performing arts which is Eisteddfod, beginning with the Druids and continuing up to present day performers and celebrations.
Voice for Storytellers and Bards
Instructor: Honorable LadyDeirdre Ui Mhaille
Description: A class on the use of voice for emotion, emphasis, and impact.... Not just for singers.
Chain Mail Classes
Maille Miscellany: Tools and Tricks of the Trade
Instructor: Lord Brendan Ackbourne
Description: People can bring whatever project they may be working on or are interested in working on. There is no fee for this class. It will run as an open forum with full participation (not lecture style). If students are interested in knitting techniques, it is suggested that they bring a small can of open rings and a small can of butted rings.

Dance Classes
Dance for the Absolute Beginners

Description: What are partners? How do I get one? Do I need to keep them? Oh, and dancing, how do you do that?
Easy English Dances
Instructor: Duchess Eridani Aureas
Description: A dance class where students will be instructed in English Country dancing. From the sexy to the Aerobic - Heart's Ease, Rufty Tufty, and Black Nag.
Fun Italian Dances
Instructor: Duchess Eridani Aureas
Description: A dance class where students will be instructed in Italian dances. From the aerobic to the sexy - Petit Vriens, Anello, Amoroso. All these dances will be done at the Ball tonight. Learn now. Look cool.
Jealousy - Stealing Partners in Dance
Instructors: Nicolle, Natasha, and Mala of Sangre
Description: Dances in which it is fun to either steal or act jealous over other dancers' partners. We will dance Gelosia, New Bo Peep, and Jenny Plucks Pears.
Variations on Hays in English Country Dance
Instructors: Nicolle, Natasha, and Mala of Sangre
Description: English country dances with fun variations on hays, starting with a quick demonstration of what a hay is. We will dance Grimstock, Picking Up Sticks, and depending on time, either Greenwood or Chestnuts.

Persona Development Classes
Creating a Persona

Description: This class focuses on delving in-depth into the SCA persona, creating rich history, mannerisms, hobbies, etc. Handout: Questions to answer when developing the persona and sheet containing phrases which can be utilized to sound more “period” (from the early 16th century). Scribal Classes
A Beginner's Guide to Illumination

Description: An introductory class for those who are interested in learning how to create your first illuminated scrolls.
Basic Vine Work
Instructor: Lady Marianna la'Vencentia
Description: A class on a basic vine work approach in scribal illumination. Students will need to bring their ink pens, at least two gouache colors, and a piece of bristol paper.
Beginners' Class for Designing and Executing Scroll Illuminations Using Modern Methods

Description: For those of us that cannot draw a wavy line. This class will show that you don't need to be a Rembrandt to design and execute wonderful scrolls.
Beginning Calligraphy - A Starter's Guide

Description: A basic introductory to the art of calligraphy.
How to Cut a Quill
Instructor: Mistress Mayken Van Der Alst, OL
Description: Learn how to cut a quill for use in the scribal arts. Class size is limited to 10 students.
Textile Classes
10th Century Dublin Cap
Instructor: Mistress Signy Ottarsdottir, OL
Description: This is a hands on class to explore the variations of the 10th century headwear. Materials are provided and students will begin the process of making their own cap using appropriate stitches and fabrics, and can leave with the materials to finish on their own. Class is limited to 10 students.
13th C Trapezoidal Pouches
Instructor: Baroness Alexis MacAlister of Beverlay OL, OP
Description: Maciejowski Bible Trapezoidal Pouch. Participants will make an authentic pouch as seen in the Maciejowski (or Morgan) bible. Must know how to sew with needle and thread. Class limit is 15 students.

Beginner Embroidery

Description: A hands-on class that covers basic stitching techniques that were used in period.

Yoga Classes
Morning Yoga
Instructor: Zafira bint Katz
Description: Join us by the lake for a refreshing yoga session to get your body and mind ready for the day. We will cycle through some gentle postures and stretches while focusing on our breathing. This is beginning level yoga and all are welcome. Bring a mat or large towel to work on.
