Letter of Intent: Lord Miyamoto Toramasa and Lady Miyamoto Aki

Unto their Royal Majesties, Ari Tyrbrandr and Sibilla Daine; Their Royal Highnesses, Danial Von Hessen and Ennelynne Von Hessen; Their Excellencies of Wyvernwoode, Baron Gõcauo Ramiriç and Baroness Sibéal inghean Mhurchadha and to the fair and gentle populace of the Barony of Wyvernwoode, Lady Miyamoto Aki and Lord Miyamoto Toramasa send our humble and heartfelt greetings.

We would seek to submit our letter of intent to become the next Baron and Baroness of Wyvernwoode. We do not seek this honor, lightly or rashly. Wyvernwoode is our home and has been since we joined the SCA in 2011. It is the place that showed us what “The Dream” could and can be. It has allowed us the opportunity to make lifelong friends, learn life lessons, and to be there for others, be they seasoned members of the Society or newcomers lost in the wonderment that is the SCA. We can think of no better way to show our love for our home then to ask for the permission to become the next Baron and Baroness of Wyvernwoode.

Service to “The Dream” is needed from our leaders and a desire to grow the populace. To achieve those goals a leader must demonstrate the virtues of “Honor, Curtesy, and Chivalry” to all through word and deed. That is our promise to you that we will lead by example, listen to our peers’ advice, and to work hard to make the populace feel welcomed and inspired.

We have a unique history that provides us insight into what it is like to hold the office of Baron and Baronness of Wyvernwoode. My knight, Baron Segdae hua Morda and his lady, Baroness Madeleine de Somerville were our first Baron and Baroness. The household of which we are members is locally under the leadership of their current Excellencies of Wyvernwoode Baron Gõcauo Ramiriç and Baroness Sibéal inghean Mhurchadha. These friendships and relationships have provided us great insight into what the office expects of its holders and the beauty that it allows you to be a part of. Having served as retainer for both let us see firsthand the expectations and requirements of the office, both the pageantry and the countless hours of hard work as well.

Why should you extend us this opportunity? We have a love of the Barony that runs deep. We love the arts; as a two time Baronial arts and sciences champion and an overall Baronial arts and sciences champion I understand the labor of love and dedication put into the field of our artisans. Lady Aki has a deep love of the textile arts and encourages others to learn to find their passions in the arts as well. We know duty as I am a man at arms to Syr Segdae and we both hold Baronial offices. I have been the Web Minister and Constable. Lady Aki is the Baronial Librarian. We both understand service as we have both received our Wyvern’s Scale for service as well as our AoA’s. We respect our rapier community as I am an authorized rapier fighter and Lady Aki is learning the art as well.

I am sure that people will wonder if Aki will be able to function in the role of Baroness, due to her hearing loss. That is a fair and just question. This is not a problem as we have long worked to help make people aware of her hearing loss and to use that as an example of how inclusive the Society is. She has taught classes and continues to work with the Silent Heralds of Trimaris and the Known World. It is our hope to inspire others to learn the art of sign language and to welcome all of those with disabilities into “The Dream”.

So it is with open hearts and on bended knee that we humbly ask you to consider our letter of intent to become the next Baron and Baroness of our home, Wyvernwoode.

Lord Miyamoto Toramasa Lady Miyamoto Aki
